Meet the Governors

Mrs A Bassett

Head of School

Mrs Ruth Bawden

Co-opted Governor (Chair)

I have lived in Launceston for over 40 years and have worked as a Microbiologist, at Launceston College, in a Bank and Building Society and at Education Out of School . As an Administrator in EOS I was very involved with the pupils, their education, SEND provision and reintegration back into school. I was also a Sunday School Teacher at St Marys. I have two children who both went to local schools and I am now a grandmother with four grandsons, two of which are at WHA. I have therefore attended many events at WHA and helped with fundraising. I have always been involved with various Clubs and Organisations in Launceston and I currently am in a choir and run a Group for Widows, which I started after my husband died. I am very interested in all aspects of education and child development which, I believe are at the core of any Society and I will help in any way I can to support the Ethos of WHA.

Mr John Harris

Co-opted Governor

Mrs Nicky Gilbert

I have lived and worked in Launceston all my life. Launceston is a place that I hold very dear to me, not only because my family are situated here but also due to its rich history and thriving community. I have always been committed to serving our community. For 30 years, I managed a charity-based pre-school in the heart of Launceston, supporting hundreds of children and their families during this time. I am currently a Town Councillor of Launceston. I am also a member of Kensey Vale Bowling Club, where I coach the Windmill Hill Academy’s Bowling Team, which allows the youth of today to develop and gain new skills outside of their day-to-day education establishment. I am whole-heartedly committed to our wonderful town and its future. I am looking forward to supporting and working with everyone, adults and children, at Windmill Hill Academy.
